Carts and Cart Type can be setup in WOS Manager. Carts can be assigned to a certain Cart Type depending on how orders will be picked.

Cart Configuration

Carts are configured with Rows x Columns (Compartments). The example below is a 6x4 Cart Type which can carry 24 orders.

This same physical configuration can be used to pick against multiple types of Batches.  The below list of possible Cart Types on this cart is just an example of how the same cart can be used for multiple batches

  • 6x4 Cart Type - A batch will contain 24 orders; each bin on the cart holding 1 order
  • 6x1 Cart Type - A batch will contain only 6 orders, each row on the cart holds 1 order.  All items will be scanned into A1, B1, C1, etc. and all of the items placed on that row are associated to the order assigned to A1.
  • PackOne Cart Type - A PackOne batch doesn't require orders are placed in compartments.  Items can be placed anywhere on this cart for a PackOne batch.
  • Receiving6x1 - During receiving, the user can assign the 6 compartments (A1, B1, C1, etc.) to the receipt.  When the cart is being Putaway, the app will tell the user which row the items can be found on.

Cart Purpose

The Purpose is a field in the Cart Type that can be assigned to either Picking or Receiving.

Only Cart Types with a purpose of Picking can be selected in Batch Build to create batches against.

When a Cart's Purpose is Receiving, a User will be able to Receive to a Compartment on that Cart when performing a Receiving operation.

While a Cart can have multiple Cart Types with a purpose of Picking, only 1 Receiving Cart Type can be assigned to each Cart.  This allows the Receiving app to identify which Compartments are available during the receiving process.
