Introduction
This is a process for querying the Vesyl shipping platform again to get shipping labels for orders that received an Error label. There are a few different reasons that can prevent Vesyl from being able to create a shipping label, resulting in an Error label. Typically WOS recommends that Error labels are addressed on a case-by-base basis inside of Vesyl to rectify the issue and create/print the shipping label. Occasionally, errors happen to a large amount of orders and can be fixed in Vesyl in bulk (missing item weight, carrier issue, etc.), so the orders are ready to get a shipping label.
When this happens, WOS has a process to retry generating labels to assist with getting the shipping labels from Vesyl into the printing queue to replace the error labels and print during the packing process for the orders. Normally after WOS queries up and gets an errored response for the shipping label it does not try again. This process manually forces the integration to try again to get a shipping label and can be applied to order in bulk.
Setup
This should already have been setup on each account when the retry process is added to the integration, if it hasn't been this process may not be available on your site, please reach out to Support to verify.
- Navigate to Admin -> Printing -> Print Stations
- Create a Print Station named "Retry Label Creation"
- Set the Print Queue to "RetryLabel"
- No printer assignment is required
Apply Retry Process
- Navigate to Admin -> Printing -> Print Queue
- Error Labels can be identified by filtering the Doc. Name column for "Error"
- Filter the Status column to Pending
- At the bottom of the grid select the action "Reprint to Station" -> choose the station "Retry Label Creation"
- Choose Save Selected or Save Filtered
Note This process can be performed on already printed Error labels, but there is no way to identify which shipping label belongs to which package when printed in bulk. The documents would need to be identified per order in the queue and printed out one by one.
A process runs on a 5 minute timer to pick up these labels and run them through the label generation flow again. The Error labels are deleted and the new label that is created will be inserted to the Print Queue in a Hold status. This status makes the order documents easy to find again, if need be; documents on Hold will still print when triggered by the iPad pack function, so can be processed as normal.
If Vesyl has been updated for the orders to get a shipping label, those will be successfully generated and pulled down to WOS. If error labels continue to populate, investigate in the Vesyl system, or reach out to their team.
Packing Slip Users When orders are sent through the label generation flow again, it goes through the entire process, including packing slips if those are being created. If a packing slip is selected and set to RetryLabel, the packing slip will be deleted and another shipping label will try to generate as well as the packing slip. If the Error label is selected and set to RetryLabel, it will try to generate a shipping label as well as a packing slip. Either document that is not set to retry will have a duplicate created in the print queue, as the original did not get deleted.
To prevent duplicate documents of either type, make sure that the Error label and Packing slips are selected and set to Retry.
