What Has Changed

Reset Picks is used to reset an Order to fix any errors or come back to an Order later. Removing an Order from a Batch also performs the Reset Picks function on the Order.

When performing a Reset Picks or a Remove from Batch, you'll be presented with new options that will allow for better management of the unpicked items or the problem order. Potential workflows to use the new functionality is below.

Reset Picks

The previous option is still available. If the Order simply needs to be reset, choose this option from the bottom of the list. All Order lines will be reset. Inventory will not be adjusted. Any corrections or adjustments for already Picked Items must be managed manually.

Stage Order Items

Sometimes Reset Picks is used because an Order has some kind of problem that will take some time to resolve. The Order needs to be reset to clear it off the cart so the other Orders can be Packed and the Cart reused for Picking.

If this is the reason the Order is being reset, Stage Order Items is a better option.

The Picked Items are NOT reset with this process. They are instead moved to a new Cart. This clears the Order off the original Cart used for Batch Picking. The assigned "problem Cart" can now be staged while the problems with the Order is resolved. When the problems are corrected, the Order can be finished and packed.

A potential workflow might include the following steps.

  1. Setup special Carts for this purpose. Maybe they aren't actually "Carts" but a set of compartments at the managers desk.
    1. Use a unique numbering on your Carts to identify these special-use Carts.
    2. Reach out to support@warehouseos.com if you'd like a new format for Cart Names for this purpose.
  2. When performing a Reset Pick or Remove from Batch, select this option and assign one of the special Carts.
  3. Physically move the Items off the Cart used for Batch Picking and place them in this special Cart for later use.
  4. Perform line-level resets if needed, allowing only some lines to be reset instead of all lines.
    1. Line Level resets will NOT put inventory back in the system. These must be managed with Puts if inventory has to be put back.
  5. After resolving the issues with the Order, finish picking the Order using Single Pick.
    1. Set up a group that requires the Order Number be entered into Single Pick.
    2. Use the Create Barcode on the Order page to provide a barcode that can be scanned into that app.
  6. After the Order is picked, scan the Cart or the Order Number into Packing to finish the Order.

Unpick Order items

Sometimes Reset Picks is used because an Order is cancelled and will never be Picked. Maybe the Order is being delayed long enough that it doesn't make sense to keep the Picked Items staged. It could also be that the Order will be picked again later, but the Items needs to be reflected as actual inventory until that happens.

If the reasons the Order is being reset is similar to the examples above, Unpick Order Items is the right option.

The Picked Items are reset and the Order goes back to a state where it will need to be fully picked again. Unlike the default Reset Picks option, this will assist in managing that inventory. A single Location can be selected and the Order Lines already Picked will have their Items put into this Location as Inventory. Then There are two approaches for how to manage this unpicked inventory. Potential workflows might include the following steps:

Restock the Inventory

  1. Create a set of Locations that represent unpicked Items at the manager's desk.
  2. Select this Location when performing the Unpick Order Items to have inventory automatically put here when the Order is reset.
  3. Use the Move function to then Move this inventory out of this problem Location back into the desired place on the shelf.
Note: If the lLcation for unpicked items is setup as a "Replenish" location, the Replenish Put functionality of the new Replenishment App can be used to put these Items back on the shelf in a more efficient way.

Re-pick the Items

  1. Create a set of Locations at the manager's desk that represent a staging area for these problem Orders.
    1. Set up compartments to store a single Order's Items or keep a more general Location that would then mix Items across multiple Orders.
    2. Using the otherwise unused location type "Ship" could help distinguish these Locations.
  2. Select one of these designated Locations when performing the Unpick Order Items to have the inventory automatically put here when the Order is reset.
  3. Select the "Allocate Inventory to Order" option. This will immediately allocate this Order to the inventory that was just put into that staging Location.

Note: Once the order is allocated to the selected Location, it will not always allocate back to this Location. Using the Unallocate or Reallocate features will follow standard allocation routines and the detail of the Order allocating to this selected Location will be lost.
  4. When the Order is ready to be Picked, finish Picking the Order using Single Pick.
    1. Set up a Group that requires the Order Number be entered into Single Pick.
    2. Use the Create Barcode on the Order page to provide a barcode that can be scanned into that app.
  5. After the Order is Picked, scan the Cart or the Order Number into Packing to finish the Order.
